Kyoshi Rob Howes is the designated Child Protection Officer for the World Ju-Jitsu Federation UK, and has successfully completed another course, “Child Protection in Sport” which has been awarded by the NSPCC.

In view of recent worldwide events and media coverage of historical child abuse, Kyoshi Rob Howes would advise all senior club coaches, club and support coaches, child welfare officers and any adult helpers, over 18 years of age, to take the online NSPCC Child Protection in Sport course or similar. This is a bare minimum requirement to assist and highlight awareness in dealing with young people in the sporting environment.

The course fee is £25, takes approximately 3 hours to complete and can be completed in stages over days/times to suit your schedules. You will receive a certificate on completion which can be printed off.

He strongly advises that clubs appoint a Child Welfare Officer, if you do not have one, to be a point of contact for any child safeguarding issues or concerns. Ideally this must not be the club coach.
