Demonstrate your skills with a NVQ
NVQs (National Vocational Qualifications) are a nationwide system of qualifications set up by the government across all occupations and professions to provide a valid and reliable way of measuring competence.
They do this by assessing what an individual knows and can do. Assessment occurs where a person actually works, allowing the candidate to be observed while actually coaching.
The next level up from a Coaching Award
A coaching award is specific to and recognised by your own governing body. The content and quality of courses in various sports may vary and this can cause confusion and differing standards. NVQ’s have specific standards and performance criteria, so anyone who successfully gains an NVQ can rightly claim that their performance as a coach is up to the National Standard of excellence. This means that it is universally recognised by all involved in the Sport and Recreation Industry.
Develop at your own pace
There is no deadline for earning an NVQ. It will depend on the training you have done and the experience you have gained already. The minimum time will be around three months.
